Recognizing that access to credit is essential for Kansas small businesses – and that not all businesses have the same access – the Kansas Department of Commerce took action in August 2022. In partnership with Network Kansas, the Commerce Department created the GROWKS Loan and Equity Programs to serve Kansas entrepreneurs with an emphasis on those historically underserved.
Both programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Treasury’s State Small Business Credit Initiative. Kansas was one of the first five states to be approved for the program, with $69 million awarded. The innovative GROWKS Loan and Equity programs include five distinct loan and three equity programs.
